Stacey’s made over 3,300 sales in her Etsy shop alone… and Set Up Shop helped get her there.

Hey Thriver,

I’ve got a story that I HAVE to share with you.

Stacey Howard of Max & Me Designs took my Set Up Shop course a few years ago, and since then, she has not only continued to be my student, but is also now my dear friend.

She’s built a wildly successful, full-time handmade business – all while having and raising her 2 kids.

She is a shining example of what can be achieved when you have a good product, fierce drive, and the right guidance.

She’s done so amazingly well that I actually had her on the podcast a while ago to share her story – and her tips for how she turned her handmade hobby into a full-time business!

You can listen to that right here.

And, if you too want to set up a stellar online store (on Etsy or anywhere else), don’t miss this class of Set Up Shop .

I’m offering a one-time-only 20% discount on the already super-redonkulously-affordable price to celebrate my upcoming 10 years in business!

Jess 🙂

P.S. Over 1,000 makers all around the world have taken the course – don’t miss it.

[161] The number 1 reason handmade businesses fail (and 3 strategies to overcome it)

I have seen so many handmade business owners flounder and give up, and there is one thing so many of them have in common.

I call it the ‘what, how, when’ problem.

This happens when makers don’t know what to do, how to do it, or when to do it in regards to their business.

You can know the what… but not the how or when. Or maybe you know the when, but not the how… you get the picture!

When you start out, especially if you have zero business experience, there is a HUGE learning curve.

But… how do you know what you don’t know? How do you make sure you’re doing the right things, at the right time, in the right way?

There are 3 strategies you can use to climb the mountain and craft a successful business, and I share them with you – in detail – in this episode.

I also share the BIG special I’m offering on my Set Up Shop course, and why!

Get 20% off Set Up Shop – One-time bizaversary special offer!

So, on the 9th of October, I’m going to be celebrating 10 years in business!

*Cue fireworks and sparklers!*

That was the date that I opened my Epheriell Etsy shop… the beginning of this amazing journey to a life and work that I absolutely love.

I want to celebrate – and I want to share that celebration with you!

There will be a few things going on over the next few weeks (especially for Thriver Circle members), but today, I wanted to kick off with something BIG.

I’m offering a 20% discount on the upcoming class of my flagship course Set Up Shop.

Over 1,000 makers have already used the SUS system to set up stellar online shops for their handmade creations – and I want to get this system into the hands of 1,000 more makers (for a start)!I don’t think I’ve ever offered this sort of discount before (as the course is already super-affordable) and I very much doubt I’ll ever offer this discount again (maybe for my 20th bizaversary? OMG…)

Anyways, if you have ever considered taking the course, there will NEVER be a better time than now!

Just tap or click here to go to the course page, and follow the instructions to get access to the 20% discount.

Before you go – thank you. Thank you for being here, for being part of my decade-long (so far!) business journey.

I want to see you create the handmade business of your dreams, and get to experience all the wonderful things that I have over my 10 years in business!

Jess 🙂

[139] How Max & Me Became a Smashing Success with Stacey Howard

I’m so excited to share this episode with you!

I invited today’s guest – Stacey Howard – on the show to share her business journey – because I’ve been watching her progress since she took my Set Up Shop course back in 2013.

Since then, she’s built a 6-figure handmade business – all while having and raising her 2 kids.

Stacey is a brilliant example of how hard work, dedication, and tenacity can pay off, and she has SO much wisdom to share with you today.

Enjoy this episode!

  • Joining the Thriver Circle – without the members of the Circle, this podcast would not be possible.

Quotes and Highlights in this episode:

  • Stacey’s business focus has shifted and refined over the years.
  • “My business evolved by following what my customers actually needed and what they were actually looking for” {Stacey}
  • By minimising one of a kind items, Stacey was able to free up significant amounts of time, energy and stock to focus on other aspects of growing her business.
  • Different products perform well in different spaces. Stacey’s postage stamp jewellery performed well at markets but were slower to sell online whereas her customisable cufflinks and jewellery perform best online.
  • The turning point in Stacey’s business was a large pricing restructure that included free postage as part of the price increase.
  • “If you have more higher priced items you will sell more of your mid-point items” {Stacey}
  • Increasing the prices of your products can be difficult but it is important to remember you are not necessarily your target market.
  • Give your new pricing structure time to bed down. It will take a little while to see results.
  • Provide your mailing list with advance notice of your price increase to build and sustain good will.
  • “You are making a beautiful product – don’t undersell yourself” {Stacey}
  • “Nobody is paying anywhere as much attention to your business as you are” {Jess}
  • The driver and source of your sales may shift and change over the years.
  • “You have to keep learning because if you don’t you will be left behind” {Stacey}
  • Consider outsourcing aspects of your life to free up time for you to work on your business.
  • “What activity (to outsource) will bring you the best return on investment?” {Jess}
  • Stacey’s tip for markets is to put your phone down and engage with each person who comes to your stall. They may not buy from this time but you are building a brand.

Set Up Shop 2 Jan 16

Join me for Set Up Shop in February.

This class is awesome. Best investment I’ve made in my business.

~ Lisa Palmer

What is Set Up Shop?

It’s a 30-day e-course that will teach you exactly what you need to know in order to set up, or overhaul, an online shop for your handmade goods.

I’ve had the honour of guiding over 500 creatives through this course over the past three years, and I’m looking forward to helping you create or turn your online handmade shop into something that you can both be proud of, AND that sets you up to actually bring in sales and grow your business.

In this course, I’m teaching from a place of hard-won experience – I’ve done what I’m teaching you, and I have a successful online craft business that supports me and my little family (and employs both me and my husband). I am also a university-qualified teacher, so I both love to teach, and I have the education and experience to guide you through this learning process with the aim of helping you to create concrete outcomes.

I have (and am still) ‘walking the walk’ of running an online handmade business.  I’m right there in the trenches with you, every single day. This is not something I theoretically know how to do – it’s something I’ve done, and continue to work on. I’m still learning what works – and what doesn’t – and I pass that knowledge on to my students.

I know the system I teach in Set Up Shop works.

How? Both because my students tell me so, and because I used what I teach here to get my own business up and running.

I created this course because I’m passionate about sharing what I learn, AND about helping others to realise their dream of having a successful craft business – because I want you to enjoy the freedom, joy, and fulfilment that comes from doing just that.

Registration is open now, and will close midday Sunday the 31st of January AEST (that’s Australian Eastern Standard Time!).

Class begins Monday the 1st of February, and runs for 30 days.

To find out exactly how the course works, the options you have for Membership, and what we’ll be covering, head on over to the course page here.

If you’re worried that you won’t be able to afford this course, because you’ve seen all the super-expensive courses that are out there – don’t be.

The entry level Membership to Set Up Shop is just $85* – because I want every single person who needs this course to be able to afford it.

I want YOU to be able to invest in this course and experience the huge positive changes it can help you make in your life and business.

If you are in the United States, the UK, or Europe – there has NEVER been a better time to take the course. I sell this course in AUD, so with the current exchange rates, you guys are getting a HUGE ‘discount’ on the price of this course. As I type this, for example, that $85 translates into around $60 USD (and 54 Euro, and 40 Pounds). No kidding!

Set Up Shop Alumni Carolyn Grill says this of her experience:

It has been eye-opening and inspiring and I can say, wholeheartedly, if you are thinking of opening up an online shop this course will save you so much time and frustration.  Plus, you’ll meet a host of other talented, helpful creative types.  Money so very well spent!

I hope you can join us and get your shop up and running in 2016!

P.S. I can tell you how useful, practical, and inspirational the course is till I’m blue in the face… but the true test of quality comes down to what the course alumni think

Set up Shop has been the most productive 30 days I’ve had in my business so far.

It has given me the opportunity to reflect on what I am doing, consolidate and reaffirm what I already do well and give me the push I needed to put into practice processes that will help me to grow my business further.

The daily lessons have been thought provoking and provided me with a clear series of action steps that I was able to work through at my own pace.

These together with the incredible support and shared knowledge provided in the private facebook group have really proven to be incredibly rewarding. I am so glad that I signed up for the course and can’t believe that I even hesitated to do so.

It is a small investment to make for such big benefits.

Thank you Jessica xo

I have found your course amazing and it has given me the knowledge and courage to do this. The help, knowledge and ongoing support shared by fellow like minded creatives also participating in your course through the facebook page has been invaluable and a source of inspiration.
So thank you Jess for creating this wonderful course and sharing all your know-how with me, I really have appreciated it.
~ Minna Cleggett

Loved this course… Really makes you think about your business & gives you a big kick up the bum to help achieve your goals… Now writing this, I think I need to go over it again so I can see how far I’ve come!!

~ Brianna Murray

Thanks Jess – so great speaking with you and being a part of your fabulous Create & Thrive e-course.

Participating in the e-course made me feel more connected to a creative community of women and tapping into both yours and their Australian and overseas business experiences, was so enlightening.

It’s great to learn from someone who has done it and is current right now, working in their own creative business too – all from your at home studio/office and on the road too – fab!

Love what you do, mixing it up with your Epheriell jewellery designs, simply beautiful, together with your Create & Thrive business concepts and teaching methods – just so easy to follow with really useful practical information and lots of common sense too.

I am now better equipped to work on and in my business, having shared in the Create & Thrive experience, and I am so looking forward to kicking it up a notch, nurturing my business along and watching it grow.

Thanks for your inspiration, energy and extraordinary desire to help others in the creative industry, to get it right.
