WIN a Silver or Gold Membership to the New Create & Thrive E-Course: SHIFT

Win SHIFT

***THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED***

On September 1st, the new Create & Thrive e-course – SHIFT – kicks off!

I’m so excited about this course – I’ve been thinking about it for over a year now. But it was only recently that it all came together in my mind, and now it’s ready for you!

I’ve envisioned it as kind of a ‘next step’ course after Set Up Shop. Not that it’s necessary to have taken Set Up Shop to do SHIFT – rather, it’s for those who are at the ‘next level up’ in their businesses.

When you’ve been in business for a while, you face a whole different set of challenges from beginner entrepreneurs.

  • Rather than setting up your brand and website… you might realise that the ones you have aren’t clearly reflecting your business any more.
  • You might be realising that it’s time to share the load and get help in some way, but you’re not sure how.
  • You need to get smarter with your use of social media because you’re just too busy to keep up.
  • You need to re-examine what you’re offering and decide if you’re still going in the right direction for where you want to be.
  • You need to overhaul your time management strategies.

These common roadblocksย – and many, many more – are covered in SHIFT. I’ve drawn upon all the lessons, problems, successes and issues that I’ve personally encountered in my last 6 years running Epheriell (almost 5 of those running it full-time) to create a course that takes you on a 30-day virtual roadtrip from where you are to where you want your business to be.

And if you’re unclear on the ‘where you want to be part’? SHIFT will help you figure that out, too. The aim is to take you on a journey that addresses all the things that are so very easy to neglect when you’re so busy working ‘in’ the business. This course will get you working ‘on’ the business again – which is a crucial component of becoming successful and staying that way.

When I first launched Set Up Shop, I ran a competition to give away a spot – and it was fantastic! I got to hear from so many of you – telling us your stories, your challenges, and your dreams.

So – I decided to do the same thing for SHIFT!

This week, I’m giving away TWO Memberships: one Silver Membership and one Gold Membership

(To find out what each level of membership gives you, pop on over to the SHIFT page here.)

ย To Enter

1. To be eligible to win the Gold Membership, write a comment below, answering the question:ย Where do I need to make a shift in my business?

2. To be eligible to win the Silver Membership, share this giveaway on social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, Google Plus or Pinterest), using the tag #WinSHIFT, then leave a comment below telling me which social media you’ve shared it on. You can combine the two comments in one. You get one entry per social media you share on. There are sharing buttons at the end of this post for everything but Instagram to make this super-easy!

Entries are open world-wide, and close Sunday the 24th of August at 6pm AEST (that’s Australian Eastern Standard Time). The Silver winner will be chosen using random.org, but I will choose the Gold winner personally, based on your answer to the question above.

Good luck!

Jess

I think I need a general, overall shift. I’m feeling a little stagnant right now. I need to shift my ideas on social media and find my focus there and everywhere else. I need to refine my product line, figure out what works and what doesn’t, where to remove products and what to add. Basically, I need this course!

I need an over haul , I have a bead store / glass studio where I make the glass beads . I’d like to work smarter not harder . Since the economy tumbled here in the US I have less people coming in my shop….heeeeeelllp ….where I want to go is .. build a online presence work from home or figure a way to have it all….

The main area I need to shift, would be outsourcing. This is turn will help with my time management, as my business has grown so quickly in the past year, I find I’m still doing processes the old way. Which isn’t necessarily time efficient as it may have once been. I need to shift away from doing everything and handing some of my “baby” over to some help, so I can continue to grow and realise my dream.

Hi, this is awesome… I have shared on FB, Pinterest , twitter and G+.
I need to shift my business from reactive to proactive. Changing up from limping along in the crawl lane to cruising in the fast lane with the top down, the wind in my hair and the tunes pumping out!

hmmm I think I just need motivation really, I go along all right for a bit and then I hit a roadblock and stagnate for a while. And help to define a clear path – I have so much stuff flying around in my head that I need to sift the good from the dodgy and move ahead.

Gold membership entry: My little biz has grown and changed so much since I did the Set-Up Shop course that I need a course like this to fine tune and refocus my direction. I’ve just started branching out beyond Facebook for social media marketing and I would love to know how to better utilise other apps/sites such as Pinterest, Twitter and Instagram to build my customer base.

There is definitely more than 1 area in which I need a upward shift to upgrade my business. For starters, I have wayyyyyy too many product options and lines that it’s overwhelming to browsers. I need to tighten and define my offerings through some {painful!} cutting and refining. Secondly, I need to work on my website’s SEO. I’ve been told this when I ask for feedback and why my site is getting such low traffic and conversions, but of course the nest logical step is to figure out HOW. Following this, I want to add wholesale to my revenue streams, which would be a big shift and upgrade for my jewelry business, which I’m excited for but also nervous about. Finally, and what I feel is most important, I need to niche down and super-focus on my target audience to the point where they feel like my jewelry was made JUST FOR THEM. Lots of things, obviously, but I sense that they are all just… almost.. not quite… within reach. Reading about this course gives me the strong sense that this could be JUST the the motivator and guide I need to get a jump start on taking action on all of these plus some more. Thank you SO MUCH for your consideration! Your work, blog, and inspiration are much appreciated. ๐Ÿ™‚

I feel like I am at the stage now where my entire business needs a shift but if I had to choose just one area it would be my brand. When I first started my business I really was not thinking about it as a business, I really was just excited that anyone wanted to pay me anything for my items and happy that I would get to share my craft with the world. Things happened in my life that forced me to take my business more seriously and in doing so my business started to grow faster than I expected and to be honest I wasn’t ready, now I am at a place where I know what I want my business to look like the message I want to send to the world but I am just not sure what to do or rather if what I am doing is right or not. I need some focus and accountability and Shift seems to be exactly that.

Gold entry – our youngest is about to start school at the beginning of sept so all of a sudden I’m going to have a lot more time to devote to my biz. I want to make the most of my new available time and make a shift into building up online sales in my etsy shop of my retro style clothing I sell locally to me at the moment as I’m going to be able to make more items than I can at the moment.

Both membership entry: I need a shift in my business with more direction on how to use social media to give my business a boost. I can use Etsy to promote with good results but don’t know how to use anything else effectively, Jess could really help with that. Also I need a shift in my SEO and my product line, I don’t have a definite direction and I know this course would help so much.

Hi Jess, I’ve shared this on Twitter and Pinterest.

I’ve been running my business for 4yrs now and in that time I’ve managed to transition from a ‘what I’m doing at TAFE’ blog with a portraiture focus, into a much stronger brand. I now introduce myself as a nature and fine art photographer and believe it’s quite clear the quality and style of work that people can now expect from me.

My main issues are that I’ve identified there’s more money going out than there is coming in, and that I’m a little scattered in where the business is going to go. The items that sell the most are not really in line with what I want to sell, and I need help to either accept that and give what customers want, or change my way of marketing myself so that what I want to be known for becomes a sought after item. All this on a limited budget…. if such a thing can be done. At the moment it’s toes in the water with lots of different things and no real focus. I don’t even have a structured work day yet, which is not a good start.

On a side note, I’ve been working on a project for over a year and as it starts to come to an end I’m a bit lost about what step to take to present the finished product to others. I know this isn’t the focus of the course, but perhaps it can spur me on.

Thanks for reading,
Kell.

So I set up my shop, got a few sales, added LOTS of things (probably too many) and hit a small road block. This course would be perfect to work out what to do next…increase my price, utilise social media more efficiently and make my shop more cohesive. Shared on Facebook ๐Ÿ™‚

I am new to this and in fact I haven’t started my dream business yet. I have been considering to deliver the business idea to the world and have been researching all the things that have to happen before setting a online store. Your blog has been so helpful and taught me great ideas and tips so far. The key to success seems more of the tech/marketing/website/etc than actual products(this too) which makes me worried and lost sometimes.

Answering to your Q: Where do I need to make a shift in my business? – I need to find the core concept/idea of my line to set the foundation of my business. So as I process the steps, I won’t feel lost.

Hi Jess
Thanks for the opportunity to be in the running.Where do I need to shift in my business? I have a cracker name a brilliant logo and perhaps some great product. As a person who has a few skills in a few modalities I am getting my self really twisted up with what to launch and how. I have got visions of perhaps encorporating many of my ideas somehow but I am getting rather muddy on how to consolidate . I feel an external appraisal and or guidance would be beneficial instead of ruminating inside my own head .I have a great sense of excitement and some solid goals to be present at particular trade fairs next year but with what ???
Cheers

Shared on twitter @sallysteeljones. I love running my own business but the shift for me is to start thinking big. My business makes money but I’m finding it hard to believe in me (and ultimately give up the day job even though, financially I’m in a position to do so – I need a mentor to give me that last push!).

I feel I need to make a shift into commitment. I want to grow my business majorly! Currently I treat it more as a hobby. Like yourself, I am a crafter (always have, always will be!) I feel that I have found something that I am good at, and have a niche market. Not many people do what I do! I would love to take it further. Thanks for the opportunity. Briony

Where do I want to make a shift in my business? Good question! It would be easy to say “all of it needs a good shift” but honestly that’s not true. My business is beginning to gain traction, get known, I am making sales and I can see a real way forward. What I need is a kick up the pants to keep me honest, focused and driven. Often times I can do that for myself, but knowing which direction to focus that kick would be very beneficial. I can actually see that within another 12 months, if I can keep on building, then I might just be able to kick the day job and fully focus on my business…that is where I really need to make a shift. Because in there is the confidence to really make a go of this…knowing that there are still so many things I need to know. So, the shift is not so much in my business, but in me. Whether I win or not, I will be doing this course – but I am more than happy to share the word around (have shared on FB, Google+, Pinterest and once I work out how to IG, will do that too). Cheers Jess, looking forward to this course…xx

And like a bolt out of the blue, your email lands in my inbox, the Angels are singing and the clouds part and the sun shines through revealing to me the path I should take…

But seriously Shift has come at just the right time for me, after two years working hard to build my letterpress printing business, investing time and much money in my antique printing presses, I feel like I am finally starting to get some traction.

This has been a long journey, when I look back to the product I originally took to market to my current much more sophisticated product (in so many ways) I am really proud of everything I have achieved and learnt so far. I feel that I have put in the miles and learnt many of the basics when it comes to building and running my business, though I am by no means an expert and still have much to learn. All this hard work has recently resulted in me achieving two of my long standing goals, after 3 years of failed application attempts I have been accepted into my very first Finders Keepers market and today I landed my very first wholesale account! I have also been successfully attending craft market and wedding expos for the last two years.

So what is the shift I need to make in my business? I need to shift my mindset, from successful hobbyist to that of a successful business woman, I want to put my best foot forward every time I front at a market, every time I approach a retail outlet to stock my goods, every time I approach a print magazine or blog to feature my work and in every other situation I need to represent my business with pride and passion.

Jess be my Angel and sing to me a song that will guide me through the next stage of my businesses growth, a stage I am just itching to get stuck into!

I need to think of my business as a business and not a creative hobby, that is the shift I need to make. Set up shop helped me focus on productsand pricing, get stockists and sales, but right now I am overwhelmed with the beginnings of success rather than enjoying it. I need to prioritise rather than panic, help me shift into that gear and when people ask me how my “little pottery thing”is going I will smile and say “great!”

I need to make a shift from creating products that can be easily found elsewhere on Etsy, to products that people say ‘oh that looks like an original Sophie Kells’. I have already started this transition by finally combining my art and jewellery processes. Now that I’ve started the transition I need to get it out there to the masses… but I need a push and some handy hints!

Now to answer the question:
I need to make the shift from feeling like I am stumbling along in the dark after a 6 year break from my creative work due to raising kids. I need to step into the now with clear vision. I have changed, my work has changed, the market has changed, my goals have changed. I want to make the shift from being an illustrator to being my own art director. I want to keep my instinctual creative drive, yet learn how to be the leader in my own business, rather than taking direction from others. I would like to make the shift from feeling like I need other people to tell me what to do, to being my own leader. I’m ready!

Where do I need to make a shift? Social media! I also think I need more places to sell, and a system that won’t make that completely overwhelming. On top of those two major things I want to broaden my brand a little, do more cooperations, review products and be featured on other people’s sites.

Where do I need to make a SHIFT in my business? In April of 2013 I took your Set Up Shop course and it was the best thing I could have done! With the help and guidance of your course I was able to re-evaluate my plans and goals and really get a good start on building up my business. Within the past year, I have had a slow and steady growth and I am confident that with a bit of a “shift” in my organization, work habits and delegating I can make my business into more than just the “gravy” money.

What say you?
